Upon completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
1. Discuss childhood trauma's impact on health and discuss current literature on the relationship of early trauma to mental illness and substance use disorders.
2. Describe the basic principles of trauma-informed care and analyze psychiatric systems and treatment facilities for opportunities to implement trauma- informed care.
3. Examine barriers to implementing trauma-informed care and possible solutions.
